dvdrip-utils software package provides perl front end for transcode and ffmpeg (tools), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dvdrip-utils
dvdrip-utils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dvdrip-utils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dvdrip-utils *
You will get with dvdrip-utils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
